Narrated by James Drury, this one-hour documentary examines the remarkable achievements of French explorer Rene Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle.

The program focuses on the life and times of LaSalle, his impact on the Americas, and offers a critical examination of the controversies which La Salle engendered during his own time; many of which continue today.

The story of the modern discovery and excavation of his last ship, the Belle, on the coast of Texas is told as a continuation of the on-going search for LaSalle.
